Long long time no update [07/14/09] silver_stargate [ mood | apathetic ] [ music | You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This - Toby Keith ] Its a bit ridiculous that even though I read my flist every single day and even comment infrequently I haven't done an update since March, so ummm oops? I got a new job on the 20th of April in a call centre where I take 'Enquiries' which is company code for "WHERE IS MY STUFF, WHY HAVE I BEEN CHARGED THIS, I HATE YOUR COMPANY, THIS IS BROKE, I CAN'T PAY, WHY IS EVERYTHING OUT OF STOCK, MY NEIGHBOUR STOLE MY PARCEL, I SENT THIS BACK WHY HAVEN'T I GOT MY MONEY BACK, MY HUSBAND/GAY LOVER BEAT ME AND I RAN AWAY PLEASE CHANGE MY ADDRESS...etc etc..." It's all a bit depressing and I've only been there 13 weeks, as you can probably pick up I don't really want to work there, my coworkers are lovely and my managers and trainers are also really nice but the main part of the job is listening to people complain for 6 hours straight whilst also going 'We have an offer on towels/pillows/hair straighteners today would you like to hear about it?' My soul is already dying a little inside. Apart from that nothing really has happened in my life, no friend or significant other drama (second part because there is no significant other...*slightly sad face*) I was as pissed off with Torchwood Week of Angst as everybody else and I have a sekrit Big Brother addiction I wish I didn't have (Freddie Freddie Freddie!!) [07/14/09] theaeblackthorn What I've always loved most about Ianto is that he's so average. He's not a doctor, or a genius, or a great bleeding-heart humanitarian. He's not an immortal time-traveler or an alien. He's just a 25 year old man from a generation of directionless kids that had no idea what to do with themselves once they inexplicably became Adults. He's young and reckless and stupid, hiding behind an idealized model of what he thinks adulthood should be, whose great talent is the ability to touch his tongue to his nose. I love that description of Ianto, it's just so spot on, to me at least. It's from this fic rec. The actual rec, not the fic. By kel_reiley. Just. Yeah. Sometimes I think I was born loving you, and you think you know how I feel?" Long, angsty, hot and very well written. Definitely a must read. A FOREIGN LAND by oxoniensis Sam/Dean, pre-series, NC-17, 11,056 words. Sam doesn't understand how you can care so much about someone – have wet dreams about them even, though that's a secret he's never telling – and still fight with them all the time. It's only gotten worse as they've gotten older, him and Dean, childish bickering progressing to cruel words that hurt more than either of them admit, Indian burns moving on to outright fights, words and fists flying hard and furious, leaving bruises and cuts as reminders. Afterwards, they trade wet towels and ice packs, still not speaking to each other. Nothing seems to make sense any more. This one is just beautiful. The writing is amazing and you feel like you're right in the middle of it throughout the entire story. Read (11) Comment
